Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has officially confirmed that four players will be leaving the club this summer following the conclusion of the Premier League season.
Speaking after Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Southampton on the final day of the campaign, Arteta named Raheem Sterling, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney, and Neto as the departing players.
"It was important to win it, it was important as well to say goodbye to a few players who have left our football club, to say thank you for their contribution," Arteta stated in his post-match comments.
The Spanish manager highlighted the significant contribution of Tierney, who has been with the North London club for six years: "Some of them, like Kieran, they've been on this journey for six years with us."
Both Sterling and Neto will be returning to their parent clubs after completing their one-year loan spells at the Emirates. Sterling will head back to Chelsea, while Neto returns to Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, Jorginho and Tierney are set to leave as free agents, with reports indicating that Jorginho is heading to Brazilian side Flamengo, while Tierney is expected to join Scottish champions Celtic.
"Jorginho, we're trying to hug him, Neto and Raheem as well," Arteta added, expressing his gratitude to the departing players.
The confirmation comes as Arsenal begins preparations for the upcoming transfer window, with the club expected to strengthen their squad following another competitive Premier League campaign.
