Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal from rivals Al Nassr, according to former Al-Batin president Nasser Al-Huwaidi.
Al-Huwaidi revealed that the 40-year-old Portuguese superstar's transfer is imminent and will be officially announced in the coming days.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is close to joining Al Hilal, and this deal will be announced in the coming days," Al-Huwaidi stated via Kooora.
The move would enable Ronaldo to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup with Al Hilal, a significant factor in the transfer. His current contract with Al Nassr expires in June, making him a free agent for a potential short-term deal.
"The legend's arrival at Al-Hilal will give the Club World Cup a huge boost, and Al-Hilal will have the highest attendance in the tournament," Al-Huwaidi added.
The former Al-Batin chief also indicated that Al Hilal has ambitious plans beyond signing Ronaldo: "Al Hilal will certainly sign three international names in addition to Cristiano, which will enable the team to perform at a high level and satisfy its fans."
Addressing potential concerns about Ronaldo replacing current Al Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, Al-Huwaidi was clear in his assessment: "Ronaldo is currently better than Mitrovic, and I don't think Al Hilal fans will object to his arrival. Rather, they will welcome him as long as he adds value to the team and contributes to winning trophies."
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had previously been linked with moves to Wydad Casablanca, Palmeiras, and Botafogo in recent weeks, but Al Hilal appears to have won the race for his signature.
If confirmed, this transfer would represent another significant chapter in Ronaldo's illustrious career, which has seen him star for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr.
