Enyimba technical adviser Stanley Eguma has declared his team will approach their final Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match of the season against Plateau United with a winning mentality, despite missing out on continental qualification.

The People's Elephant will host Plateau United at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday in their season-closing fixture, with Eguma emphasizing the importance of ending the campaign on a positive note.

"We'll approach the game like every other, but with the sole aim of getting victory as a 'thank you gift' to our fans," Eguma told Completesports in a pre-match interview.

The former league champions have experienced an inconsistent season, which ultimately cost them a chance at securing a continental ticket for next season's CAF competitions. Their current record stands at 14 wins, 13 draws, and 10 defeats in 37 league matches.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on continental football, Eguma is determined to give the loyal Enyimba supporters something to cheer about as the current NPFL season draws to a close.

The match against Plateau United represents an opportunity for Enyimba to improve their final league position and build momentum heading into the off-season, where they will likely regroup and strategize for a stronger campaign next term.
