The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has charged the newly installed Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Akinola Alabi, to use his position to attract more developmental projects to Ibadanland.
The traditional ruler made this declaration during Alabi's installation ceremony held on Friday at the Olubadan palace in Ibadan.
Chief Alabi, who currently represents Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal constituency at the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), was decorated with Akoko leaves by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Abdulwahab Popoola, as part of the installation rites.
Speaking at the ceremony, Oba Olakulehin emphasized that Alabi's selection for the prestigious title was significant, considering the hundreds of Mogajis (family heads) in Ibadanland who could have been chosen.
"You have been installed as the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland today, there are hundreds of Mogajis in Ibadanland before your choice," the Olubadan stated.
"Your appointment and installation as Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland is as a result of your meaningful contributions to Ibadanland," he added.
The monarch further charged the federal lawmaker to leverage his position to bring more development to the ancient city. "I want to charge you to continue to attract more developmental projects to Ibadanland. Do your best to bring more federal projects to Ibadanland," Oba Olakulehin urged.
The installation ceremony marks another significant addition to Ibadan's traditional hierarchy, with expectations that the new Jagun Olubadan will use his political influence to benefit the community.
