Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has penned an emotional farewell message to West Bromwich Albion following the announcement of his departure from the Championship club.

The 31-year-old Nigerian international was among several players released by West Brom as their contracts expire in June, ending his six-year stint with the Baggies.

Taking to Instagram to address his exit, Ajayi expressed profound gratitude to everyone associated with the club, highlighting the special bond he formed during his time at The Hawthorns.

"Thank you to everyone connected with @WBA for an incredible six years," Ajayi wrote. "To the staff, my teammates, and the fans, thank you for accepting me and embracing me in a way that truly made me feel at home."

The defender added: "I'll never forget the special bonds and memories we've built since I joined the club."

Ajayi joined West Bromwich Albion in 2019 and became an integral part of the team's defensive setup over the years. During his time with the club, he experienced both Premier League football and Championship campaigns.

The Super Eagles center-back is now expected to seek new opportunities as he enters the summer transfer window as a free agent. His experience at both club and international level is likely to attract interest from various clubs.

While West Brom released Ajayi, reports indicate that the club has offered new contracts to three Nigerian forwards, signaling a restructuring of their squad ahead of the new season.

The defender remains an active member of the Nigerian national team setup and will be looking to secure a move that maintains his visibility for international selection.
