American music icon and actress Jennifer Lopez has been hit with a $300,000 lawsuit for posting her own red carpet photographs on social media without obtaining proper permission.
The lawsuit, filed by photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency Backgrid, accuses Lopez of copyright infringement after she shared two professional photographs from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on her social media platforms. The plaintiffs are demanding $150,000 in damages for each photo used without authorization.
According to court documents, the superstar allegedly used the images to promote her personal brand by tagging jewelry and clothing designers in the posts. The photos in question were shared with the caption "GG Weekend Glamour."
This is not the first time Lopez has faced legal challenges over photo rights. The actress was previously sued in 2019 and 2020 for similar allegations of sharing professionally taken pictures without proper clearance from photographers or agencies.
The case highlights the complex copyright issues celebrities face in the digital age, where ownership of images—even those featuring the celebrities themselves—typically belongs to the photographers who capture them, not the subjects in the photos.
Representatives for Lopez have not yet issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit. The case continues to draw attention to the ongoing tension between celebrities' desire to control their image and photographers' rights to protect their intellectual property.
