Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a 24-man squad for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in London and the international friendly match against Russia in June.
The squad features key players including captain Ahmed Musa, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, and winger Moses Simon. In a notable development, Chelle has also included several home-based players in the selection.
The Unity Cup tournament, which will be held at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London, will see Nigeria compete alongside Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Ghana.
The competition kicks off on Tuesday, May 27th, with the first semi-final between Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica in what is being billed as the first-ever 'Trini-Jam' on UK soil. The Super Eagles will face their longtime rivals Ghana the following day on May 28th.
All four participating teams will return on Saturday, May 31st for the tournament's conclusion. The losers of the semi-final matches will compete in the third-place playoff, followed by the final to determine the Unity Cup 2025 champions.
Following the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles will shift their focus to the international friendly against Russia scheduled for June, though the exact date and venue for this fixture have not been specified in the announcement.
This squad announcement comes as part of Nigeria's preparation strategy for upcoming competitive fixtures, providing Coach Chelle an opportunity to assess his player options and test different tactical approaches against quality opposition.
