An 18-year-old teenager, Alex Favour, has been remanded in a correctional centre by an Akure Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing items worth millions of naira after breaking into a shop in Ondo State.

The Ondo State Police Command arraigned Favour on a two-count charge of burglary and stealing before the court. Police Prosecutor Inspector Adebayo Sulaiman informed the court that the defendant committed the alleged offenses along Oda Road in Akure between November 2024 and January 2025.

According to the prosecution, Favour unlawfully broke into a shop with the intent to commit a felony and made away with several valuable items belonging to one Folorunsho Emmanuel. The stolen items included electric wire valued at N50,000, 15 OX power electric motors worth N800,000, and eight pieces of vibrators valued at N1.6 million.

Inspector Sulaiman emphasized that the offenses contravened Sections 414 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. His counsel, B.S. Obilor, appealed to the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, assuring that the defendant would provide credible sureties and was prepared to meet any bail conditions imposed.

In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The magistrate stipulated that the sureties must reside within the court's jurisdiction.

Despite the bail grant, Favour was remanded at the correctional facility pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions. The case has been adjourned to June 9, 2025, for further hearing.
