Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Kano Pillars have officially declared their goalkeeper, Emeka Onyia, missing after he has been absent without official leave (AWOL) since March 2025.
In an official statement released on Monday, the club management revealed that several attempts to reach the shot-stopper through various communication channels have proven unsuccessful.
"Onyia has failed to report to training and has remained completely absent from the club's camp without any formal notification or justification," the statement read in part.
The club, popularly known as Sai Masu Gida, emphasized that Onyia's conduct represents "a clear violation of the club's professional code of conduct and disciplinary framework."
Kano Pillars management further stated they are treating the matter with "utmost seriousness" and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with both club regulations and Nigeria Premier Football League rules.
The goalkeeper's mysterious disappearance comes at a crucial time in the NPFL season, potentially affecting the team's performance as they continue their campaign in Nigeria's top-flight football league.
As of the time of this report, there has been no statement from Onyia or his representatives regarding his whereabouts or the reasons behind his prolonged absence from the club.
