Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has publicly addressed concerns about her health status following widespread speculation that she has cancer.

The confusion stemmed from a recently viral clip of her TV show, Mercy's Menu, where she discussed her health challenges during a conversation with veteran actress Joke Silva. In the clip, Johnson-Okojie mentioned experiencing a cancer scare and undergoing thyroid removal surgery, which some fans misinterpreted as a cancer diagnosis.

Setting the record straight in a video message shared on her Instagram page, the actress emphasized: "Thank you to all of you who have been calling and sending messages and prayers. I do appreciate it so much, but I do not have cancer."

She explained that the viral clip had been cut short, missing crucial context. "I said I had a cancer scare. It means that I've this swelling on my neck, if you can see the line there, and my doctors felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid," Johnson-Okojie clarified.

The popular actress reassured her fans about her current health condition, stating: "I'm perfectly okay. Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages. I'm perfectly fine and I do not have cancer."

The misunderstanding had prompted an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues who were concerned about her wellbeing after watching the incomplete clip where she discussed her sudden weight loss and health struggles.

Johnson-Okojie revealed that while doctors initially suspected the tumour on her thyroid might be cancerous, medical tests confirmed it was non-cancerous, much to her relief.

The actress, who remains one of Nigeria's most beloved screen personalities, continues to host her cooking show, Mercy's Menu, where she engages in conversations with various celebrities while preparing meals.
