Nigerian international defender Leon Balogun has confirmed his departure from Scottish giants Rangers FC in an emotional farewell message to fans as his contract nears its end.

The 36-year-old center-back, whose contract expires at the end of June, took to social media to announce that Rangers have decided not to extend his stay at Ibrox Stadium.

"It's that time again. No caption could summarise all that is going through my mind as I'm writing these lines. It's been nothing short of an honour, a pleasure and a great, great privilege to represent this massive club – twice," Balogun wrote in his heartfelt message.

Balogun's relationship with Rangers spans two separate stints. He initially joined the club in 2020, making 65 appearances and helping the team secure the Scottish Cup during his first spell.

The Nigerian defender returned to Rangers two years ago for his second stint under manager Barry Ferguson, further cementing his connection with the Glasgow-based club and its supporters.

Throughout his time at Rangers, Balogun has been a respected figure in the dressing room and a fan favorite, known for his commitment and defensive prowess.

As the veteran defender prepares for the next chapter in his career, Rangers fans have begun expressing their appreciation for his service to the club across social media platforms.

Balogun's departure marks the end of an era for both the player and the club, as Rangers look to reshape their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
