Turkish champions Galatasaray have expressed their determination to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on a permanent deal, with club Vice-President Abdullah Kavukcu stating they are "ready to pay anything" to secure his services.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Italian side Napoli last year, has been in sensational form, netting 36 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions. The 27-year-old Super Eagles striker played a crucial role in helping the Istanbul club secure a domestic double, winning both the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup.
Speaking about their intentions to retain Osimhen beyond his loan spell, Kavukcu revealed that discussions about the Nigerian's future began as early as January.
"We talked to my president about Osimhen in January," Kavukcu said, as reported by A Spor. "We told Osimhen in January, 'We want you very much, don't go anywhere. We are working to get your transfer.'"
The Galatasaray vice-president further emphasized the club's financial commitment to securing Osimhen permanently: "We are developing projects for this. We developed them to sit at that table and we are at that table right now. We are ready to get his transfer and pay the salaries he will receive from Europe."
Despite Galatasaray's strong interest, Osimhen's future remains uncertain as he continues to attract attention from several top European clubs. The Nigerian international still has a contract with Napoli, which reportedly includes a substantial release clause.
Osimhen's impressive goal-scoring record in Turkey has enhanced his reputation as one of Africa's premier strikers. His performances have not only helped Galatasaray to domestic success but have also cemented his status as a key player for the Nigerian national team.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on the prolific striker's next move, with Galatasaray making their intentions clear that they are prepared to compete with Europe's elite clubs for his signature.
