Plateau United technical adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has expressed satisfaction with his team's impressive turnaround in the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after a challenging start to their campaign.
The Peace Boys began the season on a disappointing note but managed to significantly improve their performance in the second half of the season, successfully steering clear of relegation.
"It wasn't a pleasant start to the season for us, but I thank God we were able to pull through," Mangut told Completesports. "The players showed a lot of commitment. They fought bravely, even when we were counted out."
Mangut particularly highlighted the resilience and determination demonstrated by his squad throughout the difficult period. "They demonstrated resilience, determination, and a strong will to succeed," he added.
The coach also pointed to specific challenges that compounded their early struggles, including a three-point deduction following an incident after their home match against Rangers, and a surprising home defeat to Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
"Don't forget, we were deducted three points because of the incident after our home match with Rangers. That wasn't all—we also lost at home to Niger Tornadoes of Minna. All of this put us in a tight situation. I'm glad we managed to overcome it," Mangut explained.
The technical adviser further attributed the team's early difficulties to the players' adjustment period to his coaching philosophy and tactics.
Plateau United will conclude their 2025 NPFL campaign with a final fixture against Enyimba, looking to end the season on a positive note after their remarkable recovery.
