Lionel Messi has called on his Inter Miami teammates to remain united during their difficult period following a 3-0 home defeat to Orlando City in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday night.
The loss extends Inter Miami's poor run of form, with the team winning just one match in their last seven games across all competitions.
Speaking after the match, the Argentina captain emphasized the importance of solidarity during challenging times. "It's a difficult time, but we are going to come through this," Messi told Apple TV.
"Now we will really see if we are a team. These are difficult times. When everything is going well it is very easy, but when difficult times come like now, we have to be more united than ever, be a real team, and get through it," he added.
The defeat has left Inter Miami in 6th position on the MLS table with 22 points. The team's next challenge will be against league leaders Philadelphia on Sunday, where they will be looking to turn their fortunes around.
Messi, who joined Inter Miami in 2023, has been a transformative figure for the club, but even his presence hasn't been enough to prevent their recent slump in form.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner's call for unity highlights the team's determination to overcome their current challenges as they continue their campaign in the 2025 MLS season.
