Bundesliga club FC Augsburg has officially bid farewell to Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka following the completion of his loan spell from Premier League side Brentford.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder joined Jess Thorup's side on a season-long loan last summer without a purchase option included in the agreement. Onyeka made his final appearance for Augsburg in their match against Union Berlin last weekend.

The German club expressed their gratitude to the Nigerian international through a message posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) account: "Thank you, Frank! Frank #Onyeka's loan is coming to an end, and we thank you for your commitment to the Red-Green-Whites."

During his time with Augsburg, Onyeka made a significant contribution to the team, featuring in 31 league matches throughout the 2024/25 Bundesliga season. His consistent performances in midfield helped stabilize the team during their campaign.

The Nigerian midfielder is now expected to return to his parent club Brentford ahead of the 2025/26 season, where he will look to fight for a place in the Premier League side's squad.

Onyeka's loan spell at Augsburg has provided him with valuable playing time and experience in one of Europe's top leagues, potentially enhancing his value to both Brentford and the Nigerian national team going forward.
