Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that "four or five players" will leave the Emirates Stadium this summer as the club prepares for a significant transfer window ahead of next season.

Speaking after Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, Arteta acknowledged the need for reinforcements while revealing several departures are imminent.

"Obviously we need players because the squad is really short, and on top of that we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts, and their loans are finished," Arteta stated. "So, we need to be sharp. Again, very disciplined in what we want to do, and make sure that we are strong in the next season."

Among those expected to depart are midfielder Jorginho, who is set to join Brazilian side Flamengo, and defender Kieran Tierney who appears Celtic-bound. Loan signings Neto and Raheem Sterling will return to their parent clubs, Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has struggled for playing time this season, is also anticipated to leave the North London club.

When questioned about the importance of the upcoming transfer window, Arteta deflected responsibility to the club's hierarchy, saying: "Finish the season, go to the beach and make sure the ones upstairs do what they need to do."

The Spaniard's comments come as Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has reportedly urged the club to sign new players to strengthen their title challenge for next season. The Gunners have once again fallen short in their Premier League title pursuit despite showing significant improvement under Arteta's management.

With several players departing and the need to bolster the squad for domestic and European competitions, Arsenal fans can expect an active summer transfer window as the club aims to close the gap with their rivals and mount a stronger title challenge next season.
