The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring compliance and product integrity across Nigeria's industrial landscape, particularly following certification processes.
This commitment was highlighted during the presentation of a Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificate to lubricant manufacturer Segmax Oil Nigeria Limited.
SON Director General, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, represented by Kwara State coordinator Mr. Ayeni Feyisayo, emphasized that the regulatory agency aims to reinforce consumer confidence in locally manufactured goods through stringent quality control measures.
"Monitoring of compliance level will be more rigorous after product certification," Feyisayo stated, describing Segmax's achievement as "a legacy of excellence and commitment."
The MANCAP certification marks a significant milestone in Segmax's pursuit of quality assurance and standardization within Nigeria's lubricant market, according to the SON representative.
Dolapo Mariam Motunrayo, Head of the Chemical Technology Unit at SON's Kwara office, further clarified that certification is only the beginning of a long-term relationship built on quality control.
"All your products are now certified under MANCAP, but it doesn't end here. Monitoring will be even more rigorous," Motunrayo explained. "This certification is valid until 2028, and we expect continued compliance. We look forward to further engagements through product and test certifications."
In response to receiving the certification, Segmax Oil Nigeria Limited's leadership expressed gratitude to SON. Both the Chairman, Engineer Jesuwumi Oluwasegun Mathew, and the Managing Director, Mrs. Jesuwumi OluwaFunmilayo Florence, acknowledged SON's guidance and support throughout the certification process.
The MANCAP certification program is part of SON's broader initiative to enhance the quality of locally manufactured products and boost consumer confidence in Nigerian goods, ultimately contributing to the growth of the manufacturing sector and the national economy.
