The Kebbi State Government has extended condolences and financial support to the Waje District in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of 15 farmers and left three others wounded.

Deputy Governor Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida led a high-powered delegation to the affected community on Saturday, where he presented a N24 million donation on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris to assist victims' families and those receiving medical treatment.

During his visit to the palace of the District Head of Waje, Senator Tafida described the financial support as a compassionate gesture from the state government aimed at helping grieving families cope with their losses. He assured residents that the government would implement proactive measures to enhance security across farming communities in the state.

"This support represents our government's commitment to standing with the people of Waje district during this difficult time," Tafida stated. "We are determined to improve the security situation and protect our farming communities from further attacks."

The District Head, Hon. Bala Danbaba, expressed gratitude for the solidarity visit and financial assistance. He highlighted the area's vulnerability to cross-border threats due to Danko-Wasagu's shared boundaries with Niger, Zamfara, and Sokoto States, and appealed for increased security presence in the region.

Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena, Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government, confirmed the casualty figures and emphasized the need for sustained government intervention to restore confidence among rural dwellers who have been traumatized by the attack.

The deputy governor's delegation included prominent officials such as Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah, Hon. Kabir Tukura, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, APC State Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, as well as several commissioners and special advisers.

This massacre highlights the ongoing security challenges facing rural communities in northwestern Nigeria, where armed attacks on farming communities have become increasingly common in recent years.
