South Africa U-20 head coach Raymond Mdaka has attributed his team's victory over Nigeria's Flying Eagles to disciplined tactical execution in their 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations semi-final clash.
The Amajita secured their place in the final following a hard-fought 1-0 win against the seven-time champions, with Tylon Smith's 66th-minute strike proving decisive.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Mdaka commended his players for their commitment to the pre-match strategy.
"Yes, another win—congratulations to the boys. They did a fantastic job, showed great character, remained disciplined, and followed the tactical and technical plan we agreed on. We really appreciate their effort," Mdaka stated.
The coach acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter but highlighted the continuous improvement of his squad throughout the tournament.
"It wasn't an easy game, but our boys are growing with every match—developing in character and improving in all aspects. Thank you and well done to the boys, and well done to the country," he added.
Following this victory, South Africa will face Morocco in the final scheduled for Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's coach Zubairu has reportedly accepted responsibility for the defeat and is planning a squad overhaul. The Flying Eagles will now compete for third place against Egypt, whose coach has expressed determination to secure the bronze medal position.
