Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has insisted that the club needs to sign 10 new players in the upcoming summer transfer window to address their poor performance in the 2024-25 season.
Speaking on the Webby & O'Neill show, Giggs specifically mentioned Ipswich Town's Liam Delap and Wolves' Matheus Cunha as potential signings who would represent "an improvement" for the struggling Red Devils.
"They both have Premier League experience, which is a massive plus. The domestic form has been nowhere good enough so they are proven already to do it, to score goals," Giggs stated.
"So if you see those players come in you are going to get excited because it is an improvement and they are good players."
Manchester United have endured a disastrous campaign under manager Ruben Amorim, currently sitting in 16th position in the Premier League table with just two matches remaining in the season.
Giggs acknowledged the scale of the rebuild required but expressed concern about the timeframe. "We do need nine or 10 players but we are not going to get them in this transfer window. That is the dilemma. Does Ruben Amorim have enough time to get his kind of players in that might take a couple of transfer windows?"
The former United winger was particularly critical of the club's striking options. "We need strikers. It is a joke Man United have only got one recognised striker, we have three or four in the past."
"Not only three or four, three or four quality centre forwards. So if you do get an injury, you do get a loss of form, you have got another player coming in. And if they are both on form they are pushing each other, so it is a win-win. That is going to take time. That is modern football, you don't get it."
Reports suggest that Cunha's move to Manchester United is already in the final stages, while the club has also been linked with Enzo Biyik as Amorim looks to reshape the squad according to his vision.
