Rangers International FC forward Godwin Obaje has expressed determination to clinch the Federation Cup trophy as compensation for the team's failure to defend their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title this season.
The Flying Antelopes, who surrendered their league championship to Remo Stars, are now focusing on Federation Cup success as they prepare to face Kwara United in the semi-finals scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Speaking to Completesports, Obaje acknowledged the disappointment of their league campaign but remained optimistic about ending the season with silverware.
"Football is like that. Sometimes it doesn't go the way you planned," Obaje said. "It wasn't the best of seasons for us. As defending champions, we wanted to do much better, but then, this is football, it doesn't always go your way."
The forward added: "But thank God we're in the Federation Cup semi-finals. Hopefully, we'll make amends and see if we can still end the season with something."
Rangers' quest for Federation Cup glory comes at a crucial time for the Enugu-based club, which has experienced a challenging season despite their status as defending NPFL champions.
The semi-final clash against Kwara United represents a significant opportunity for Rangers to salvage their season and add another trophy to their cabinet, with the winner advancing to the Federation Cup final.
