Rangers International Football Club has officially dismissed rumors suggesting that their General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, is planning to exit the club.
The speculation, which emerged last week, had suggested that Ezeaku was considering stepping down from his role at the Enugu-based club. However, the club's Media Director, Nobert Okolie, has categorically denied these claims.
"There's no truth whatsoever in that speculation," Okolie stated firmly. "Our GM has spoken to no one about whether he is stepping down. And nobody – not even from the government that owns and funds the team – has at any time raised questions about the GM's future with the club."
Ezeaku, who was promoted from Team Manager to General Manager in 2023, has been instrumental in the club's recent success. Under his administrative leadership, the Flying Antelopes clinched their eighth Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title last season, further cementing their status as one of Nigeria's most successful football clubs.
The timing of these rumors is particularly significant as Rangers prepare for their crucial President Federation Cup semi-final match against Kwara United. The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
Rangers will be looking to add the Federation Cup to their trophy cabinet, having already secured the league title this season. A victory in the cup competition would complete a domestic double for the Enugu-based side.
The club's management appears focused on maintaining stability as they pursue further silverware, with Ezeaku continuing to play a pivotal role in their administrative structure.
