Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has made history by breaking two significant records after helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Super Eagles striker netted twice in the final, cementing his place in Galatasaray's record books in spectacular fashion.
With his brace against Trabzonspor, Osimhen has now scored 35 goals this season, making him Galatasaray's all-time highest-scoring foreign player in a single season. This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record of 34 goals set by Brazilian forward Mario Jardel during the 2000-2001 campaign.
Additionally, the Nigerian striker has become the first foreign player to score twice for Galatasaray in a Turkish Cup final, further solidifying his legendary status at the Istanbul club.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Italian Serie A side Napoli last year and has been in sensational form throughout the season. His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, with several European giants reportedly showing interest in securing his services.
Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, along with Italian side Juventus, are among the top clubs eyeing the prolific forward ahead of the summer transfer window.
As Osimhen celebrates this significant milestone in his career, speculation about his future continues to grow. While his loan spell at Galatasaray is set to conclude at the end of the season, his record-breaking performances have undoubtedly increased his market value and appeal to Europe's elite clubs.
