Heartland FC has vowed to fight for their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) survival as they prepare for a crucial final match against fellow relegation strugglers Akwa United.

The Naze Millionaires currently occupy the 17th position on the NPFL table with 45 points, placing them in the relegation zone with just one match remaining in the 2024/25 season.

The do-or-die encounter is scheduled to take place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, with Emmanuel Amuneke's side needing a victory to have any chance of maintaining their top-flight status.

Following a disappointing performance in their previous match in Benin City, the club has expressed determination to bounce back. "It was a bad day at the office for us in Benin City, but we shall fight until the very end," a club statement read.

The match represents a survival battle for both teams, as Akwa United are also struggling to avoid relegation. Football analysts predict an intense encounter as both sides will be fighting desperately for the three points that could determine their fate in Nigeria's premier football competition.

Heartland FC will be counting on home advantage and the support of their passionate fans to secure the vital win needed in this final fixture of the season.
