The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced that the crucial final league match between Mighty Jets and Barau FC will be played behind closed doors due to security concerns.
The match, scheduled for Sunday at the New Jos Stadium in Jos, will proceed without spectators following fears of potential hooliganism at the venue. The NNL management made this decision as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of players, officials, and other stakeholders.
According to the league body, the host state Football Association, under the leadership of Honourable Suleiman Kwande, has been mandated to implement adequate security arrangements for the fixture.
The match carries significant implications for the Group C standings. Barau FC currently occupies second position with 18 points, placing them in a favorable position to qualify for the Super Eight playoff tournament. Mighty Jets, meanwhile, sits in fifth place with 14 points.
The game will kick off at 3 p.m., simultaneously with all other remaining fixtures in Groups C and D, as directed by the NNL. This synchronized kick-off approach aims to maintain competitive integrity as the league season reaches its climax.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight playoff tournament, where they will compete for promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Football authorities have urged fans to respect the decision and follow the match through authorized media channels instead of attempting to gain access to the stadium.
