Nigerian rapper Yung6ix has made a public appeal for assistance to quit smoking marijuana after a 21-year habit, revealing that his body is now rejecting the substance.

In a candid post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the music star disclosed that he has already taken steps to reduce his marijuana consumption by cutting his monthly expenditure to $600, but is struggling to quit completely.

"Coming out today to tell everyone I need help. I've been smoking for 21 years now and my body is telling me to stop. I'm trying but it's not easy, I've reduced how much I spend buying weed to $600 a month and I need help to turn that to $0. Any help?" Yung6ix wrote.

The rapper's openness about his struggle with addiction has garnered support from colleagues in the music industry. Fellow Nigerian rapper Phenom responded to Yung6ix's appeal by revealing that he successfully quit smoking 10 years ago with professional assistance.

"10 years since I quit smoking. [I] can link you up with the doctor that helped me," Phenom offered.

Yung6ix expressed surprise at this revelation, responding, "Wow no way bro, so you no dey now kana all this while when we dey yarn?"

This public admission comes at a time when conversations about substance abuse and mental health in the entertainment industry are gaining more attention. Yung6ix's willingness to seek help publicly may encourage others facing similar challenges to do the same.

The rapper, known for hits like "Picking Things" and "Blessings," has previously shared other personal challenges with his fans, including a 2021 incident where he was robbed of $7,000 and a laptop containing his new album in the United States.
