President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened an urgent meeting with military service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police at the State House in Abuja on Friday, as security challenges continue to escalate across northern Nigeria.

The high-level security meeting comes amid worsening violence in Plateau, Benue, and Borno states, where hundreds of lives have been lost in recent weeks. During the meeting, President Tinubu charged the Armed Forces to intensify their efforts in addressing the country's security challenges.

"The stability of Nigeria's democracy, regional peace, and economic growth is closely tied to national security," the President stated, ordering security forces to "deal decisively" with threats to national stability.

Federal Allocation Increases

In economic news, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed N1.681 trillion as revenue generated in April 2025 to the Federal Government, 36 States, and 774 Local Government Councils. The figure represents an increase of N103 billion compared to the N1.578 trillion shared in March 2025.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made a bold claim regarding the political landscape in Akwa Ibom state, suggesting there would be "no political parties" in the state come the 2027 general election. Akpabio stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) umbrella had been "severely damaged" and could no longer protect the populace.
