Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has advised French attacker Christopher Nkunku to consider a move to Arsenal, suggesting the Gunners would be an ideal fit for his compatriot who has struggled for regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.
Malouda, speaking to Racing Tipster, identified both Arsenal and Bayern Munich as suitable destinations for Nkunku, who has failed to cement a place in Enzo Maresca's starting lineup at Chelsea this season.
"Arsenal or Bayern Munich would be the right kind of place for him to go, but I'm not sure he should leave Chelsea," Malouda said.
The former France international expressed personal admiration for Nkunku but suggested the player might be facing mental challenges similar to those experienced by Jadon Sancho.
"Personally, I like him as a player, as a person. I would love him to fight and to prove what he showed in the beginning," Malouda continued. "I think it's more a mental aspect that he needs to work on a little bit, like Jadon Sancho. Moving clubs, it's sometimes running away from what you have to adjust."
Malouda highlighted the importance of regular playing time for Nkunku if he hopes to secure a place in the French national team for the 2026 World Cup. Currently, the attacker has been limited to starting only in cup matches under Maresca's management.
"He's used to the Bundesliga, but at Bayern, there would be competition too. So, for me, he has more things to improve. But it's like he kind of gave up mentally, and that's what he needs to adjust to," Malouda explained.
The 24-year-old Nkunku joined Chelsea with high expectations following an impressive spell at RB Leipzig but has struggled to adapt to the Premier League. Reports suggest he is now considering his options as he seeks more consistent playing opportunities.
"Bayern Munich or Arsenal would be good clubs for him to continue to progress and most important is to prepare for the World Cup coming next year," Malouda concluded.
