Armed bandits have launched a deadly attack on Dungun Mu'azu community in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in one death, one injury, and multiple abductions.

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday night, was reported by Katsina-based security analyst Bakatsine on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday.

"Last night, bandits attacked Dungun Mu'azu community in Sabuwa LGA, Katsina State. They killed one person, injured another person and abducted several people during the attack," Bakatsine wrote in his post.

The attackers reportedly stormed the quiet rural community during the night, catching residents unaware. The exact number of abducted individuals has not been confirmed.

As of the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

This attack adds to the growing list of security challenges facing Katsina State, which has been grappling with banditry and kidnapping incidents in recent years. Rural communities in the state have been particularly vulnerable to such attacks.

The Sabuwa Local Government Area, located in the southern part of Katsina State, shares borders with Kaduna State and has been one of the hotspots for bandit activities in the northwestern region.

Residents of affected communities continue to call for increased security presence and more proactive measures from authorities to address the persistent security threats in the region.
