Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made a bold declaration that political parties will cease to exist in Akwa Ibom State by the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during his midterm empowerment briefing at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Friday, Akpabio claimed that all political parties in the state have collapsed to support his candidacy for the Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District.

"As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio," he stated.

The Senate President, who currently represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, took aim at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming that the party's umbrella symbol "has been torn into shreds and can no longer protect the people."

In his remarks, Akpabio also commented on Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, describing him as "a man of peace and one who professes God in his heart." He added that there are individuals who "profess God with their lips and not their hearts," though he did not specify to whom he was referring.

This declaration comes as political parties begin early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Akpabio apparently confident of maintaining his strong influence in Akwa Ibom politics.
