Abia Warriors technical adviser, Imama Amapakabo, has announced plans to strengthen his squad as the team prepares for continental competition next season.
The Umuahia-based club secured their continental ticket following a victory over El-Kanemi Warriors last weekend, marking a significant milestone in the club's history.
Speaking to Abia Warriors media, Amapakabo emphasized the need for reinforcements as the team transitions to competing at a higher level.
"There is no complete team universally; every team requires additions. Let us not forget that we will be playing in a different stage from what we are used to," Amapakabo stated.
The experienced coach revealed that preparations for continental competition would begin immediately, saying: "There will be some additions to the team. We will plan big. The preparation for the competition starts immediately; we can't relax now, and it's time for serious work."
Amapakabo also reflected on the team's journey so far, adding: "We worked hard to be where we are now and will move on from there."
Abia Warriors will conclude their successful Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season with an away fixture against Ikorodu City in Lagos.
The qualification for continental football represents a significant achievement for the Umuahia-based side, who will now test their mettle against some of Africa's top clubs in the upcoming season.
