The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has formally appealed to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to establish a permanent orientation camp and enhance the welfare of corps members serving in the state.

The appeal was made by NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I orientation course held at the temporary NYSC camp at Government College, Kaduna on Tuesday.

The NYSC has been operating from this temporary location since escalating bandit activities forced the abandonment of the Black Gold Orientation Camp, located at kilometre 18 on the Kaduna-Abuja highway. The former camp is currently occupied by security operatives working to combat insecurity in the region.

Dadaza outlined several key requests to the governor, including "a befitting permanent orientation camp and better welfare support for corps members during their service year." She also called for the inauguration of the NYSC Kaduna State Governing Board and the provision of utility vehicles to facilitate camp operations.

The State Coordinator commended the corps members for their exemplary discipline and commitment throughout the three-week orientation program. She encouraged them to leverage skills acquired under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to become self-reliant and contribute to job creation in Nigeria.

Representing Governor Uba Sani at the event, Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, reaffirmed the administration's commitment to ensuring the security of NYSC members and staff across Kaduna State.

"Corps members should be good ambassadors of their families and the scheme by embarking on community development projects that will outlive them," the governor's representative stated. She also appealed to employers not to reject corps members posted to their organizations but rather assist them in settling quickly for their national service.

Dadaza expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State government, security agencies, and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the successful conduct of the orientation exercise despite the challenging circumstances.
