The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the death of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria's Consul-General in Cameroon. According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Ministry's spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Ambassador Coker passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a brief illness.
The late diplomat was described as a hardworking and dedicated career diplomat who served Nigeria with distinction and professionalism throughout his career. "His untimely death, therefore, is a great loss to the diplomatic community and the nation at large," the statement read.
Before his appointment as Consul-General in Buea, Cameroon, Ambassador Coker had served Nigeria in various diplomatic capacities, including postings in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China, where he represented Nigeria's interests with notable dedication.
