The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Justice Ekaete Fabian Obot, has officially confirmed the appointment of Affiong Victor Usimka as the substantive Chief Registrar of the state judiciary. The confirmation ceremony took place on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Chief Judge's chambers.
According to a statement released by Mr. Gilbert Ukoh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chief Judge, Usimka had previously served in the position in an acting capacity before her confirmation.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Justice Obot emphasized the importance of humility, faithfulness, and courtesy in Usimka's new role. The Chief Judge described the Office of the Chief Registrar as "the engine room of the judiciary" and a place dedicated to service.
"A Chief Registrar has been appointed for the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary. She is Affiong Victor Usimka Esq.," the statement partly read. "Until her appointment, she served in that Office in an acting capacity. She was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State Hon. Justice Ekaete F. Fabian-Obot Monday 11th August, 2025 in her chambers."
Justice Obot further charged the new Chief Registrar to demonstrate dedication and diligence in executing her responsibilities, highlighting the critical nature of her position within the state's judicial system.
In response, Usimka took an oath promising to be faithful, loyal, and diligent in discharging her duties and responsibilities as the Chief Registrar of the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary.
The appointment marks a significant development in the administrative leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary, with Usimka now formally taking charge of the judicial registry's operations.
