The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate and prosecute renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (Kwam 1), following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The NCAA disclosed this development in an official statement released on Thursday via its X (formerly Twitter) platform. The aviation regulatory body is seeking prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other applicable laws, describing the incident as a "grave violation of aviation safety standards and airport protocols."
According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, when Kwam 1 was scheduled to board a ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos. Trouble reportedly began when the musician attempted to board with a flask containing more than the permitted 100 ml of liquid, violating standard aviation security regulations.
During the ensuing confrontation with airport security personnel, Kwam 1 allegedly poured the liquid, which officials later confirmed to be alcohol, on one of the security officers. The situation escalated further when the musician reportedly defied airport security protocols by exiting the terminal onto the tarmac and physically obstructing the aircraft from taxiing after boarding had been completed and doors closed.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed on Thursday that K1 De Ultimate had been placed on a no-fly list by Nigerian Airline Operators following the incident. This blacklisting effectively bars the musician from using services of domestic airlines operating in Nigeria.
"The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to launch a thorough investigation into the incident involving musician King Wasiu Omagbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, and domestic airline ValueJet," the NCAA stated in its official communication.
However, Kwam 1 has issued a statement denying any wrongdoing in connection with the incident. The musician's version of events contradicts the official accounts provided by aviation authorities and eyewitnesses.
