A tragic incident occurred at the Niger State Government House in Minna when a visitor, identified only as Gregory, collapsed and died on Friday, August 2, 2025.

According to reports from the Chief Security Officer at the Government House, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. inside one of the lodges within the premises.

Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that Gregory had arrived at the Government House to visit Sammy Adigun, who serves as the chairman of the Niger Food Security Systems and Logistics Company.

"Upon arrival, he was informed that his host was not available. Shortly after receiving this information, he suddenly became ill and collapsed," Abiodun stated.

The police spokesperson further explained that officers from the GRA Division were immediately alerted and responded to the emergency. They quickly transported Gregory to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna for urgent medical attention.

"The guest was rushed to IBB Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead," the police statement confirmed.

Authorities have moved Gregory's body to the hospital mortuary, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. No further details about the deceased's identity or background have been released at this time.

The incident has raised questions about emergency response protocols at government facilities, though officials have not yet commented on this aspect of the case.
