Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé will be the designated penalty taker for Los Blancos in the upcoming season, according to reports from Spain.

The decision to entrust Mbappé with penalty responsibilities reflects his newly established status as the cornerstone of Real Madrid's attacking lineup under manager Xabi Alonso.

Mbappé, who scored an impressive 44 goals last season and claimed both the Pichichi and Golden Boot awards, will wear the prestigious number 10 jersey, positioning him as the leader of Madrid's attack ahead of Brazilian star Vinicius Junior.

The French international brings substantial penalty-taking experience to the role, having previously served as the designated taker during his time at Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain. He currently maintains this responsibility for the French national team as well.

Xabi Alonso, who recently replaced Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid's manager following the Italian's departure to coach Brazil's national team, had previously indicated he would make a deliberate decision regarding the team's penalty taker under his tenure.

The 2025/2026 LaLiga season is scheduled to commence on Friday, August 15, with Real Madrid opening their campaign against Osasuna on August 19.

This development comes as part of broader strategic changes at the club following Alonso's appointment, with the new manager looking to maximize the effectiveness of his star-studded attacking lineup.
