Super Falcons attacker Asisat Oshoala has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha are among the male footballers she admires most, stating that Manchester United and Barcelona players have consistently been her favorites throughout her career.

The six-time CAF Women's Player of the Year made these comments during a recent appearance on Arise News, where she reflected on her early inspirations in football.

"I did not have a female idol that I looked up to when I was younger because the games weren't televised," Oshoala explained. "You don't see them in newspapers, news, and all that. I used to follow the male teams, I supported male sports people more. I liked Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha."

She added, "Most of the time, Barcelona and United players are always my favourite players."

Oshoala's connection to these clubs extends beyond fandom. The Nigerian international has had an illustrious career that includes stints at Barcelona, Arsenal, and Liverpool. She currently plays for Bay FC in the United States, continuing to showcase the world-class talent that has made her one of Africa's most decorated female footballers.

Her comments highlight the ongoing challenge of visibility for women's football, particularly during her formative years when female players received significantly less media coverage compared to their male counterparts.

Despite these challenges, Oshoala has become an inspiration for young female footballers across Africa, demonstrating that with talent and determination, it's possible to reach the highest levels of the sport.
