Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, has made promises to Lazio's new manager, Maurizio Sarri, expressing his determination to improve his overall performance ahead of the new Serie A season.
The Nigerian international specifically highlighted his commitment to enhancing his goal-scoring abilities as part of his development under the Italian tactician.
Dele-Bashiru made these remarks following Lazio's 1-0 defeat to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday. The midfielder started the match but was substituted at the beginning of the second half for veteran defender Matías Vecino.
Despite the loss, the Super Eagles star emphasized the importance of pre-season matches for the team's preparation, stating: "For me, it's important to be focused in training, listening to his tactics. If I carry on with these trainings, I will grow to be a strong player."
Expressing optimism about working under Sarri, whose tactical approach has been praised across European football, Dele-Bashiru outlined his personal objectives for the upcoming season.
"For my objectives, just try to help the team as much as possible, if that's with goals and assists, if I'm given a chance, I'll try to prove myself," he added.
The midfielder appears confident that Sarri's appointment will positively impact Lazio's performance in the Serie A, as the club aims to improve on their previous season's showing.
Dele-Bashiru joins a growing list of Nigerian talents making their mark in the Italian top flight, continuing the tradition of Super Eagles players excelling in Serie A.
