Nigerian Army troops have successfully repelled an attack by suspected armed herders in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, ensuring the safety of the community.
According to counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, during a routine clearance patrol conducted by the troops in collaboration with other security agencies.
Security sources revealed that the soldiers came under sudden gunfire while advancing through a known flashpoint along the Daudu–Gbajimba axis. The troops responded with immediate tactical action, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that forced them to retreat into nearby bushes.
"No casualty was recorded among our personnel, and the area has since been secured," a military source confirmed to BenriNews.
Following the confrontation, security forces have intensified surveillance operations in the area and launched follow-up operations to track down the fleeing assailants. These measures aim to forestall further hostilities in the region, which has experienced recurring security challenges.
The swift response by the Nigerian Army underscores ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Benue State, particularly in communities vulnerable to attacks.
