The Presidency has thrown down the gauntlet to Ralph Nwosu, former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), demanding he disclose the amount allegedly received from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to "sell out" the political party he established.

Bayo Onanuga, spokesman to President Bola Tinubu, did not mince words in his response to Nwosu's recent claims, labeling the former ADC chairman an "egregious liar."

The heated exchange follows Nwosu's appearance on Arise Television, where he alleged that "some people" had offered him three ministerial appointments as inducement to abandon plans of transforming the ADC into a coalition opposition party.

During the interview, Nwosu also challenged Daniel Bwala, an aide to President Tinubu, to explain to Nigerians why certain individuals he mentioned were receiving protection from government-backed police.

Responding to these claims on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Onanuga wrote: "The question Charles should have asked him was how much he collected from the Atiku group to sell the party he founded. But that question never came. Ralph Nwosu has proven to be an egregious liar. Shame on him. Shame on his ADC."

This confrontation highlights growing tensions within Nigeria's opposition landscape as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of future electoral contests. The ADC, once considered a potential third force in Nigerian politics, has faced internal challenges and allegations of compromised leadership.

Political analysts suggest this public spat may further fragment opposition efforts to present a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming electoral cycles.

As of publication time, Nwosu has not publicly responded to Onanuga's allegations regarding financial transactions with the Atiku group.
