The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful migration of telecommunications companies in Nigeria to its new National Identification Number (NIN) verification platform, NINAuth.

This development was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday by NIMC spokesperson, Kayode Adegoke.

According to the commission, the successful migration means subscribers can now access uninterrupted verification services through their telecom providers. NIMC further advised that any issues experienced by NIN holders regarding new SIM registration, SIM swap, SIM migration, "Welcome Back" SIM, and related services should be directed to their respective telecom operators for immediate resolution.

"By migrating to this new platform, Telecommunications firms can now provide uninterrupted verification services to their subscribers," the statement read.

The commission emphasized that the achievement is the result of NIMC's painstaking efforts to put the power to control NIN data in the hands of the holders.

"The NINAuth platform enhances data protection, gives control of personal data to the owners, offers seamless verification, and provides convenient sign-on access to services," NIMC added.

The new platform represents a significant step forward in Nigeria's digital identity infrastructure, potentially streamlining telecommunications services while improving data security for millions of Nigerians.

This migration comes as NIMC continues to expand its NIN enrollment efforts across the country, with recent reports indicating that NIN registration has surpassed 120 million Nigerians.
