A Delta Airlines pilot was arrested and detained by federal agents immediately after landing in San Francisco on Saturday evening, creating confusion among passengers and crew members.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when approximately 10 federal agents, including officers from Homeland Security Investigation (HSI), apprehended the unidentified pilot at the California airport as passengers were preparing to deplane.

According to passenger Sarah Christianson who spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle, the arrest came as a surprise to everyone onboard. The second pilot reportedly announced that he had "no idea what had just happened" after his colleague was escorted away by law enforcement officials.

Witnesses observed another group of officers removing the pilot's personal belongings from the aircraft following the detention. The authorities provided no explanation for the arrest at the scene.

BenriNews reports that as of press time, it remains unclear whether the arrest was related to the pilot's immigration status or involved other potential violations. Neither Delta Airlines nor federal authorities have released official statements regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The unusual arrest of an active commercial airline pilot upon landing has raised questions about security protocols and screening procedures for flight crew members on international routes.
