Nigeria's home-based Super Eagles have arrived in Zanzibar for their final preparations ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The contingent, led by head coach Eric Chelle, touched down in Zanzibar on Friday night after departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Thursday.
Prior to their departure, the Home Eagles had completed approximately two weeks of intensive training at their camp in Ikenne, which served as the first phase of their tournament preparations.
The team will remain at their Zanzibar training base until the eve of the competition, when they will relocate to their designated tournament headquarters.
Nigeria faces a challenging group stage at the tournament, having been drawn in Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The competition will test the squad's readiness as they aim to make a significant impact in this year's championship.
The African Nations Championship is a biennial tournament exclusively featuring players from domestic leagues across the continent, providing a platform for home-based talents to showcase their abilities on an international stage.
This final preparation phase in Zanzibar will be crucial for Coach Chelle to fine-tune his tactics and solidify team cohesion before the tournament commences.
