The Nigerian Army Headquarters, through its Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA), has conducted a comprehensive sensitization workshop on human rights and professional conduct for troops stationed in Taraba State.

The training, which took place on Thursday in Jalingo, targeted personnel of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) as part of ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism within the military ranks.

During the workshop, Major General GU Chibuisi, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), emphasized the importance of troops understanding legal frameworks that guide their operations amid evolving security challenges in the country.

"These operations place significant responsibilities on our soldiers. Therefore, it is crucial that they fully understand the legal frameworks guiding their actions. Respect for human rights must remain a cornerstone of all our operations," Major General Chibuisi stated.

The CCMA further explained that the workshop aimed not only to improve battlefield conduct but also to nurture responsible, law-abiding soldiers who serve as role models in society.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the Brigade's professional conduct during recent national protests, noting that troops maintained calm and restraint with zero casualties recorded.

"This sensitization is not just a refresher but a solemn reminder of our oath to safeguard lives and property. I commend the DCMA for this timely initiative and urge our troops to absorb and apply these vital lessons," General Uwa remarked.

The Commander also praised Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, for his unwavering commitment to troop welfare, continuous capacity building, and professional development of personnel across all commands.

The workshop forms part of the Nigerian Army's broader strategy to ensure military personnel operate within the bounds of legality and respect for human dignity during both internal security operations and civil engagements.
