The Delta State House of Assembly has deferred further hearing on the case of Joy Fasindor, a staff member of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC) who was allegedly suspended indefinitely without pay.
According to information available to BenriNews, Fasindor submitted a petition to the Assembly three weeks ago, seeking intervention from state lawmakers regarding what she described as an unlawful suspension.
The Assembly has confirmed receipt of Fasindor's petition and has scheduled the next hearing for September 2, 2025, after the State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petition failed to submit its report during today's sitting.
Hon. Oloye Pereotu, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Public Petition and member representing Burutu II State Constituency, requested additional time to thoroughly consider the petition, stating that the September date would provide sufficient time for the committee to complete its work.
The approximately eight-week postponement appears to coincide with the annual vacation of the House, which was announced during today's plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
This case adds to several significant matters currently before the Delta State House of Assembly, including proposed legislation on community security and ongoing discussions about enforcement of existing laws.
