Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) newcomers Kun Khalifat FC have officially announced Monday, July 28, as their resumption date for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The club made this announcement through an official statement released on Saturday, directing all players and technical officials to report for pre-season preparations on the specified date.
Kun Khalifat FC will be making their historic debut in Nigeria's top-flight football league after successfully securing promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) through the Super Eight Playoffs.
The modest club earned their promotion alongside three other teams - Wikki Tourists, Barau FC, and Warri Wolves - all of whom demonstrated exceptional performance during the NNL playoffs to secure their spots in the premier division.
This announcement comes as the Nigeria Football Federation prepares for the new football calendar, with the 2025-26 NPFL season scheduled to kick off on Friday, August 22.
Interestingly, the NPFL Annual General Meeting (AGM) and draw ceremony are also set to take place on July 28, coinciding with Kun Khalifat's resumption date, which suggests the club is keen on aligning their preparations with the league's official calendar of activities.
The newly promoted side will be looking to make strategic signings and adequately prepare for the challenges of competing in Nigeria's elite division, where they will face established clubs with years of top-flight experience.
