Edo Queens Football Club have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of Ghanaian goalkeeper Adjei Charlotte ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The NWFL side announced the signing on July 13, 2025, though the financial details and duration of the contract were not disclosed in the official statement.
Charlotte is expected to assume the role of first-choice goalkeeper for the Benin City-based team as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
Under the guidance of head coach Moses Aduku, Edo Queens are undergoing significant reinforcement after losing their NWFL championship title to Bayelsa Queens last season. The team also fell short of expectations in continental competition, finishing fourth in the CAF Women's Champions League.
This strategic signing comes as part of the club's broader efforts to reclaim their domestic dominance and improve their continental standing in the upcoming season.
The Nigerian women's football landscape has seen significant movement in the transfer market recently, with Bayelsa Queens also strengthening their squad. Coach Ogbonda of Bayelsa Queens had previously indicated plans to sign more players, while other transfers include Mary Lucky's move from Abia Angels to Bayelsa Queens.
