The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a stern warning regarding an alleged plot by commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as okada riders, to launch attacks on task force officials operating within the Kubwa area of Abuja.

According to reports, a voice note currently circulating on social media suggests that a group of commercial motorcyclists have finalized plans to attack officials of the FCT Task Force, following a recent clampdown that reportedly led to the impounding of over 200 motorcycles.

In response to the threat, the FCT Police Command, through its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, released a statement on Thursday night describing such planned actions as "criminality" that "will be met with the full weight of the law."

"The command will not hesitate to deploy all lawful means, including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force, to deal decisively with perpetrators of public disorder," Adeh stated in the release.

The statement further emphasized that the command possesses both the capacity and resolve to protect public officers, safeguard lives and property, and ensure law and order within the Federal Capital Territory.

This development comes amid growing tensions between commercial motorcyclists and law enforcement agencies in various parts of the FCT, with authorities intensifying efforts to regulate their operations in line with existing transportation policies.

Security experts have advised residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to prevent potential breakdown of law and order in the affected areas.
