Former England international Alan Shearer has suggested that Chelsea could potentially sell striker Nicolas Jackson during the current transfer window, citing the club's growing attacking options.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer expressed his thoughts on Jackson's future at Stamford Bridge following Chelsea's recent acquisitions of forwards Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and João Pedro from Brighton.

"I don't know, am I playing devil's advocate here in thinking [Nicolas] Jackson may be the one?" Shearer questioned. "That wouldn't surprise me if he was sold to [another club by Chelsea], whether in our country or not."

The Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer emphasized Chelsea's depth in attacking positions, adding: "They have got some serious options in every forward position."

Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Spanish club Villarreal, has faced significant criticism from both fans and pundits since his arrival at the London club. His performances have been scrutinized despite showing flashes of potential during his time with the Blues.

The Senegalese forward's future now appears uncertain as Chelsea continue their squad restructuring under the current ownership. The club has been particularly active in the transfer market, bringing in multiple attacking options that could potentially push Jackson down the pecking order.

Chelsea's recent success in reaching the Club World Cup final has also increased speculation about potential squad changes as the club looks to build on their momentum and strengthen for the upcoming season.
